Optical Distribution

Beam Angle Shapes How Light Is Distributed

  1. 01Beam AngleControls how light spreads
  2. 02Light SpreadDefines the coverage area
  3. 03Fixture OverlapChanges how adjacent beams combine
  4. 04PPFD DistributionAffects light levels across the crop area
  5. 05UniformityInfluences the final lighting consistency

A wider beam can increase overlap between fixtures, but the correct beam angle still depends on the lighting layout.

Custom Optics

Project-Specific Optical Distribution

If the standard 140° or 150° optics do not fit the project layout, a project-specific optical distribution can be developed.

  • Project-specific distribution
  • Developed around lighting requirements
  • Used when standard optics do not fit

Neither beam angle is universally better. The correct optical distribution depends on the greenhouse lighting layout.

Project Verification

Same Layout. Different Optics.

With the greenhouse layout, fixture model, quantity, mounting height and spacing unchanged, changing the optic alters how light is distributed across the crop area.

Project Conditions

The same greenhouse layout, fixture model, fixture PPF, quantity, mounting height, fixture spacing and target PPFD are used for both simulations.

What This Comparison Shows

The wider beam may increase fixture overlap, while the narrower beam may keep more light concentrated within the intended crop area. The final choice depends on the required PPFD, uniformity and greenhouse layout.

This is one project comparison under fixed conditions. It does not mean that 140° or 150° is universally better.

How We Select the Beam Angle

01

Greenhouse Conditions

  • Greenhouse drawing
  • Mounting height
  • Structural layout
  • Crop area
02

Lighting Targets

  • Target PPFD
  • Required uniformity
  • Fixture spacing
  • Planned fixture quantity
03

Optical Selection

  • 140°
  • 150°
  • Custom distribution

The optic is selected as part of the lighting layout, not by beam angle alone.

Greenhouse Toplighting Platform

Optical Options for the TopSpread Series

The 140° and 150° PC optics are developed for HIGROWSIR commercial greenhouse toplighting platforms and can be selected around fixture spacing, mounting height and project lighting requirements.

Not Sure Which Beam Angle Fits Your Greenhouse?

Send us your greenhouse drawing, mounting height, target PPFD and uniformity requirement. We can evaluate the 140° and 150° optics, or determine whether a custom distribution is needed.A greenhouse drawing and target light level are enough to start.
