Define Your LED Board Requirements

From Solder Paste Printing to Final Inspection

Grow light PCBA manufacturing brings component assembly and inspection together. Follow the main stages of the SMT production flow below.

STAGE 01

Print & inspect

  1. Solder paste printing

    Apply solder paste to the board pads in preparation for component placement. The printed deposits are the focus of the next inspection step.

  2. Solder paste inspection · SPI

    Check the printed solder paste before mounting components, helping identify printing issues early in the assembly process.

STAGE 02

Mount & solder

  1. Component mounting

    Place LEDs and other specified components onto the printed board according to the assembly layout.

  2. Process inspection

    Review the mounted assembly before reflow, with attention to component placement and visible assembly issues.

  3. Reflow soldering

    Pass the assembled board through reflow to form soldered connections. The assembly then moves to optical inspection.

  4. Automated optical inspection · AOI

    Inspect visible component and soldering features after reflow. Assemblies flagged at this checkpoint enter the pending area for review.

STAGE 03

Separate & check

  1. Depaneling

    Separate assembled boards from the production panel for the following test and finishing steps.

  2. Testing

    Check the assembled board against the project’s agreed test requirements. Boards flagged during testing enter the pending area.

  3. Labeling

    Apply the board identification label as part of the finishing process before the final visual check.

  4. Visual inspection

    Review the finished assembly’s visible condition and labeling at the end of the illustrated production flow.

Inkjet printing is also included in the production workflow for marking. Its position is considered separately from the main sequence shown here.

Inspection findings require review.
The pending area separates assemblies flagged by AOI or testing. The handling of a finding depends on the issue and the agreed project requirements.

Inspection Throughout the Assembly Process

Different checkpoints address different parts of the build. Printing, placement, soldering and the finished assembly each need attention; no single check describes the entire board.

    SPI focuses on the printing stage before components are mounted.

  • Component placement

    Process inspection reviews the assembly between mounting and reflow.

  • Post-reflow assembly

    AOI examines visible assembly features after the soldering stage.

  • Board testing & final appearance

    Testing addresses the agreed board requirements; visual inspection checks the finished assembly. Test scope and acceptance criteria should be established during project review.
